Ricky Sears of Fuquay, NC, wanted options; he got options. Sears had heard that Vigoro® Seeds soybean variety V67N3 was really good behind wheat and he wanted some different varieties. As a second crop behind grain, his soybeans grew off well and reached a good height. Sears says, “They outperformed a competitive variety on the same farm.” Sears now believes in Vigoro because “it’s just as reputable a company as any other competitive brand, it’s supported by the people of Royster-Clark, and it allows me more choices in my decision-making process.”

"Vigoro has proven what it can do for yield and quality," says Jamie Elliott of Denton, NC. Elliott's soybeans placed first in his region and sixth in the North Carolina state growers contest with 62.9 bushels per acre. After seeing what Vigoro could do in variety tests, he chose to use Vigoro because of its good germination and vigor.

Using Vigoro Seeds, Everette Medlin of Monroe, NC, placed second in the state. "2003 was a good year for soybeans," says Medlin. Medlin had the Piedmont OVT plot on his farm in 2003, and Vigoro again was among the leaders in their category. "My Vigoro beans were outstanding - very high quality," he reports.

“I use Vigoro Seeds because of my faith in my seed dealer, who is well-educated in the year-to-year results of the seeds he sells, and the superior results of the seed plots,” says James L. Hines, III, of Turkey, NC. His 125 acres of corn saw increased yields due to quick emergence, fast early growth, drought tolerance, increased kernel count, and stay-green traits. Hines says crops grown from Vigoro Seeds exhibit even growth across varying soil types in the same field, making it easier to manage the crop, whether cultivating, spraying or harvesting. “I believe anyone interested in planting seeds which exhibit outstanding emergence, good early seedling vigor, excellent drought and disease resistance, and maximum yield potential should try Vigoro Seeds,” says Hines.

“This was the first year I planted Vigoro V352NRR beans,” says Wayne White of Louisiana, MO. “They were the top yielding beans on my farm,” he says. “Even under less than ideal conditions, the V352NRRs yielded 62.5 bushels per acre. They outyielded my next best bean by nine bushels per acre. I plan to plant more next year.” White also says Vigoro has good standability and good emergence.

“We farm about 1,000 acres, and have been using Vigoro Seeds for the past three years,” says Justin Wilson of McComb, OH. “We started out by trying a few bags of Vigoro 4910 corn, and it’s been our best corn the last three years.” This year Wilson will also plant some Vigoro 4910 and 5110 corn. For soybeans, Wilson has been planting Vigoro 281 and 259 Roundup Ready soybeans. “They’ve been our top beans the last couple of years,” he says. “I’ve tried a lot of different varieties in my lifetime and I really like what I see out of these varieties.”

"I have constant access to my seed dealer by dealing with Royster-Clark,” says William C. Jones of Montross, VA. A Vigoro customer for just two years, Jones has been satisfied with his results the last two years. “Vigoro 5110 seed corn was best on my farm in 2002 by 10-15 bushels,” he says. Additionally, “Vigoro 450 soybean seed did a good job for me in 2002 under poor growing conditions.”

Vigoro’s “good standability has increased my corn yields tremendously,” says Donald Douglas of Mason City, IL. Douglas farms over 1500 acres of corn and soybeans and says Vigoro “yields right with the best of them.” Douglas recommends Vigoro Seeds because of economical pricing, good selection, and good service, including bulk delivery. After 40 years in the farming business, Douglas knows what’s important.

“Vigoro has been extremely competitive with national brands while staying reasonably priced,” says Kevin Killebrew of Greenview, IL. He should know – he’s been a believer in Vigoro for ten years. His corn yields have increased by four to six bushels and his soybean yields by five bushels. “Vigoro has good traits,” he says, “And my Farmarket representative can answer all my agronomy questions to my satisfaction.”

- Kevin Killebrew, Greenview, IL, Farmer for 20 years

Farmer Ralph W. Dodd of Eastville, Virginia, has been a Royster-Clark customer for 20 years. So when his Farmarket representative recommended he try Vigoro Seeds soybeans, he did. “They have made soybeans profitable (for me) in the last two years,” he said. With 400 acres of soybeans, Dodd’s largest crop, he is glad that Vigoro “performs in adverse conditions.”

- Ralph W. Dodd, Eastville, VA, Farmer for 20 years

Ronald P. Bailey, Jr., of Cheriton, Virginia, has been a farmer for 25 years. Three years ago he decided he wanted to try something new and different. He trusted the advice of his Royster-Clark representative and tried Vigoro Seeds. “Not only is the yield better than others,” Bailey says, “but the quality of beans and the test weight are good. The seed is uniform in size.” To Bailey, the plants seem to hold up in adverse weather. “Even in a dry year such as 2002, Vigoro soybeans seemed to do well and they shattered less than other brands,” he says.

As a farmer of 900 acres of corn and 800 acres of soybeans, Ronald Dowland of Greenfield, Illinois, has a lot at stake. Fortunately, he says, Vigoro Seeds "proved on our own farms that it matched yields with national yield leaders." He first tried Vigoro on a limited basis, and "it started outyielding the other brands we'd been planting," says Dowland. Another bonus, according to Dowland, is the "personnel has proved to be there any time we need them." Outstanding yields and service - a winning combination!

When Jeff Birch of Easton, IL, started using Vigoro Seeds five years ago, economic value and yield performance were his deciding factors. Vigoro has not disappointed him. “Compared to Garst 8342 side by side,” Birch says, “Vigoro outyielded it by 30-40 bushels per acre on dryland.” Birch also notes that Vigoro soybean seed 363NRR “outperformed every other variety I planted!” Birch would recommend Vigoro Seeds to his colleagues, mostly to help manage input costs and to increase yield and profitability. A bonus to Birch is the excellent service that the Mason City Farmarket provides, along with seed storage and bulk delivery.

- Jeff Birch, Easton, Illinois, Farmer for 20 years

“Vigoro Seeds gives me confidence that my yields will be consistent,” says corn and soybean farmer Rob Robbins of Oaktown, Indiana. A farmer for 21 years, Robbins decided to try Vigoro Seeds seven years ago because of proven plot yields. “Vigoro varieties are consistent and they are one of the top producers in our yearly seed test plot,” Robbins notes.

- Rob Robbins, Oaktown, IN, Farmer for 21 years

"My initial investment in Vigoro really pays off for me at harvest."

- Dale Crock, Galion, Ohio

"If my grain quality matches my expectations, my full corn crop could be Vigoro within 3 years."

- Jeffrey Gibbs, Swan Quarter, NC

"Royster-Clark was the first in the area to willing to start the site specific ag and work with us on grid sampling and GPS. With our type of soil, it is critical to find the right combination of nutrients with fertilizer and lime. That is the biggest plus I'll give them and it has increased our yields. Royster-Clark does all of our gridding and dry fertilizer application - last year we gridded over 4000 acres. You shouldn't farm today without these services."

- Butch Rohrs, Ohio Farmer

"Royster-Clark portrays themselves as a highly professional organization that does what's best for their business AND the grower. They're very good at managing the balancing act between their business survival needs and helping their customers be profitable."

- Louis Lucas, Monsanto
